The Whali Inbox: conversations, replies and metrics

The Whali Inbox brings every outreach conversation into one place: track replies, work through drafts, check open and click metrics, and manage follow-ups.

The Inbox is where every outreach conversation lives. My Inbox lists your threads and the replies that come back, Drafts holds emails written but not sent, Metrics tracks opens and clicks on what you have sent, and Follow-ups shows the queue of scheduled follow-ups. Emails send from your own connected mailbox.

What are the Inbox sections?

The Outreach navigation has five entries. My Inbox is the conversation list. Drafts is where you write and edit (see Sending and scheduling). Metrics is the sent-email table with its tracking data. Follow-ups is the cadence and queue (see Follow-ups). Email Accounts is where you connect and manage the mailbox you send from.

How do I find a conversation?

Search by name or subject with the search box, then narrow with the filter: All, Awaiting reply, Replied, or Unattributed. Conversations are grouped by recency (Today, Yesterday, This week, This month, Older), and the view controls let you switch between Split view and List view, Comfortable and Compact density, and Newest or Oldest first.

There is also a recency filter (All, Today, 7d, 30d) for when you only care about this week's activity.

How do I reply to someone?

Open the thread and use the reply box at the bottom. You can type the reply yourself, or press Generate with AI to have Whali draft it from the conversation and the lead's research. Sending a reply also stops the remaining follow-ups for that conversation.

  1. Open the conversation from the list.
  2. Write the reply, or press Generate with AI (3 credits) and edit what comes back.
  3. Press Send.

If you have follow-ups pending on that thread, the composer warns you that sending will move them later.

Why do I have to mark Gmail threads as replied?

Outlook and Microsoft accounts detect incoming replies automatically and stop the chain on their own. Gmail accounts cannot be read for incoming mail, so replies are not detected for you. Open the conversation and press Mark as replied, which stops that thread's pending follow-ups.

Threads on a Gmail account carry a warning telling you this, so you always know which ones need managing by hand.

What does the Metrics tab show?

Metrics is a table of everything you have sent, with headline figures above it: Total Sent, Unique Opens, Total Opens and Total Clicks. Filter by Date Range (All Time, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days) and by Status (All Emails, Opened, Unopened).

Two things are worth knowing. Click tracking covers links in the email body only, not attachments. And if you have turned open or click tracking off in your settings, those emails are marked Tracking off and are excluded from the rates rather than counted as zero.

What are unattributed replies?

Sometimes an inbound email arrives that cannot be confidently linked to one of your leads, for example when someone replies from a different address. Those land in the Unattributed filter with a suggested match where we have one. Review each and press Attribute to file it against the right conversation.

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. A Keyboard shortcuts panel lists them, covering moving up and down the list, opening and closing an email, stepping to the previous or next email, jumping to My Inbox, Drafts, Metrics or Follow-ups, and actions like Compose, Search, Reply, Schedule and Delete draft.

FAQ

Does an AI-generated reply cost credits?
Yes, generating a reply with AI costs 3 credits, the same as generating an initial email. Typing the reply yourself is free, and sending is always free whichever way the text was written.
Why does an email show Tracking off?
That email was sent while open or click tracking was disabled in your settings, so nothing was recorded for it. It still counts in Total Sent, but it is excluded from the open and click rates so the percentages stay honest.
A conversation says Lead deleted. Can I still use it?
The thread and its history stay visible, but the lead behind it is in the recycle bin, so replying is blocked until the lead is restored. Pending follow-ups for that conversation stop when the lead is deleted.
